MATCH REPORT: Hutchins proved too strong in the end for our Senior side on Saturday but it wasn't all doom and gloom. Our boys competed well and did a lot of things right but just couldn't  finish off our work inside 50. Veteran Trent 'Punchy' Stevens was everywhere for us and was our most consistent performer, Jake Cox showed us why he will be an asset to our side and great for the competition by thrilling the supporters with his sublime footwork and skill kicking 3 goals. Connor Barling and Sam Chivers had the better of the ruck contest but our midfielders couldn't take advantage of their good work, Hutchins were better organised and more willing to win it in close. Kingston and Nichols proved tough match ups down back with both kicking 4 goals , we will need to be tighter on these two when we play next.

Overall we walk away disappointed with the loss but thankful for the lessons learned, in a reduced season it's important we remain focussed on improving each week and learn to take our opportunities when they present. The reserves had another win to remain undefeated and we it was pleasing to see Glover, Cappelli, Dickenson all pressing hard for senior selection. We will be looking to inject some leg speed this week against St Virgils at Uni Oval.

MATCH REPORT:

R2 Women :                    1.2,  2.2,  3.3, 3.3  (021)

The Port :                             1.1, 3.1  4.3, 4.3  (027)

The Port are a strong, competitive side, and certainly came to play on their home deck. Credit where credit is due, they were stronger across the 4 quarters and deserved the win. I was very proud that you gave it your all, and with a bit of luck it may have been a different result. It was a good game to watch. Close, tough, fair and a good learning curve for us. The Port applied pressure all day, but we responded well and gave them a good contest. There were just a few key areas where they got away from us. Both sides applied good pressure; they had the edge of us in tackling, but not by much. In many respects, this tough contest will stand us in good stead next week when we play the Suns at home. The Suns had previously beaten The Port, but we get the Suns at home, and need to lift our game and test them out.
