Last Saturday we played Brighton who had not lost a game for the season. It was always going to be a tough outing, made all the more challenging by the cold, wet and windy conditions at Pontville. Also, once again, we had many players missing due to Uni break so were short on the bench. Despite that we had a plan to be a strong, tight defensive unit and put Brighton under as much pressure as possible. And we did this, by keeping them to only 5 goals at three-quarter time. The final result of 70 points was not indicative of how well we defended for 3 quarters. Whilst we never stopped trying, their experience and strength told out in the end. We often talk about the need to learn from a defeat, and it is vital that the players take something away from this game. We can learn from Brighton in terms of ball movement, playing on, kicking to a lead and applying pressure. Their ball skills are much cleaner and they take many more marks. Losing to Brighton brings no shame – and our last 3 games have been tough, but bear in mind we have just played the top 3 teams on the ladder, and we are not far away from Claremont or Lindisfarne.

Lets get to training, be positive and look forward to finishing the last four roster games with our best efforts.

MATCH REPORT: A six goal to one third term wasn't enough to hold DOSA off in a thrilling game at the TCA. DOSA completely outplayed us in the first half and held a 24 point lead at half time. We regrouped at half time and decided to dig in and have a crack at playing accountable, attacking football and it worked.

We knew DOSA being a proud Club would throw everything at us in the last for favourite son Scott Beattie’s 250th and that's what happened. We had our chances to seal Victory but let it slip with a 50m penalty and a couple of panic decisions by foot and gave the Roosters the opportunities they need to pinch the win. Chris Howard and Josh Fogarty again led the way with outstanding games, Josh Hall gave us a great focal point up forward kicking 5 Goals and looking dominant, Blake Waight returned to his best at Half Forward and provided a contest, with Trent Stevens, Nick Fenton and Nathan Hardy being other solid contributors on a shattering day.

We need to focus completely on our third quarter effort and play team first accountable football this week at Geilston Bay against ladder leaders OHA. Contested footy will be the key as always and keeping the ball as far away from Standen and Callinan as much as possible.

MATCH REPORT: Our reserves side had a tough day at the office with only 20 Players fronting up. Its a tough time of year with only the committed true footballers turning up when its wet and cold. The guys that played gave their all but DOSA had too many contributors to run out 59 point victors. We hope to have a full side this week to take on OHA. Cappa played his best game for the season and was very clean running off the backline with BJ and Fos in everything.
